2017-18 TCAP Assessment

TCAP

TCAP is the state’s testing program and it includes TNReady state assessments (math and English/language arts), social studies and science. Annual assessments play a key role in the teaching and learning process, and they are critical to ensure that all students are meeting higher standards and are making progress on their path to postsecondary and the workforce. The TCAP assessments are designed to provide Tennessee students, teachers, and families with better information about what students know and understand.

 

Grades 2 testing:

Students in grade 2 will take assessments in English language arts and math. This test is given to help measure how much a second grade student grows academically over the course of a school year.

 

This test will be administered April 23-May 4, 2018.

 

Student scores will be available fall 2018.

 

Grades 3-8 testing:

Students in grades 3-8 will take assessments in math, English language arts (ELA), science and social studies.

Grade 3-8 tests will be administered between April 16 and May 4, 2018. The state assessment for grades 3-8 will be administered via paper and pencil.

Students with the most significant cognitive disabilities will take the MSAA for ELA and math and the TCAP Alternative assessment for social studies and science. These tests will take place over a two-month window in the spring.

MSAA and TCAP Alt will be administered between March 19 and May 11, 2018.

Student scores for TCAP and MSAA will be available fall 2018. 

 

 

 

Grades 9-12 TCAP End-of-Course Assessments:

High school students will take state assessments for courses with End of Course exams (EOCs). These courses include the following:

         English I/ English II/ English III

         Algebra I/ Geometry/ Algebra II

         US History & Geography

         Chemistry

         Biology

 

High school tests will be administered between November 27 and December 15, 2017, for fall block. They will be administered between April 16 and May 4, 2018, for spring block.  

Students in grade 10 with the most significant cognitive disabilities will take the TCAP Alternative assessment for science. Similarly, students in grade 11 with the most significant cognitive disabilities will take the MSAA for Math and ELA. These tests will take place over a two-month window in the spring. Tentative dates are March 19 through May 11, 2018. 

Student scores will be available by the end of the school year. Individual student reports will be available fall 2018.

  

 

2017-18 ACT

 

ACT

ACT exams are used to measure college readiness and HOPE scholarship eligibility.

 

Administration Dates (Given during school day)

 ACT Senior Retake will be administered on October 17, 2017.

Junior ACT will be administered on March 20, 2018. Make-ups will be given on April 3, 2018.

ACT provides student level reports to students approximately three to eight weeks after the administration of the assessment.

December 9, 2017 (Registration deadline: November 3, 2017)

February 10, 2018 (Registration deadline: January 12, 2018)

June 9, 2018 (Registration deadline: May 4, 2018)

 

 

 

2017-18 District Testing

 

Throughout the school year, the district administers common tests to evaluate how a student is meeting benchmark goals.

 

These tests include:

 

STAR Early Literacy (grades PreK-2) 

STAR Reading (grades 3-11)

STAR Math (grades 3-8)

STAR Benchmark dates are as follows:

August 1 thru August 23, 2017

November 28 thru December 13, 2017

April 23 thru May 11, 2018

ASPIRE (grades 6-8)

Common Assessments (grades 9-12)

Common assessments at Dyer County High School will be given in math and English. These assessments will be administered on the following dates:
