TCAP Achievement Information

Tennessee TCAP Achievement Resources (Fall 2010)

Proficiency Ranges (Released August 2010)

The Reporting Categories Performance Index (RCPI) is an estimate of the number of items the student would be expected to answer correctly if there had been 100 such items for that category. The Scale Scores and Cut Scores by subject area show the number of questions needed to be basic, proficient, or advanced on the new, more rigorous Tennessee TCAP Achievement Test.

Important Teacher Information **Updated for 2010**

These have been just recently updated to reflect the new SPIs for Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science beginning with the 2009-2010 school year. Social Studies SPIs have not changed. These Reporting Categories and SPIs are also aligned with this year’s Discovery Education (ThinkLink) assessments.

TCAP Item Samplers and Practice Tests for Spring 2010

The Item Samplers provided contain questions that are representative of the types of questions that will be on Spring TCAP Achievement Test. Each test item in the Item Sampler is presented with the Reporting Category and Performance Indicator. In a classroom learning session, these questions can be used to prepare students for the actual test. An answer key for the sample questions is provided at the end of each Item Sampler.

TCAP MAAS Item Samplers (2009-2010)

The MAAS (Modified Academic Achievement Standards) assessment for students with disabilities in grades 3 through 8 is intended to evaluate individual learning needs and yield results that more accurately reflect students’ academic progress while also guiding instruction based on individual students’ needs. Students’ scores of Proficient or Advanced on the TCAP MAAS may be included in AYP calculations, subject to a cap of 2% of all students assessed at the state and district levels. The decision for TCAP MAAS participation is an IEP team decision based on the needs of the individual student.
